Seeing the gap in the market we are producing this devotional for men - written by men. By Carl Beech who heads up CVM (Christian Vision for Men) and with contributions from two different 'guests' each issue, this is a welcome addition to our range of devotionals. This 60-day devotional has Bible readings set out with notes and prayers, leading men of all ages into a deeper faith and closer walk with God. "The Manual Book 1 - Power, Pleasure, Poker and Pork Pies" has contributions from Andy Frost (director of Share Jesus International)and Bryan Pill (of the Mission Aviation Fellowship) and covers, among other topics: what real power is - and whose it is, tough teachings, temptation, staying focused, kingdom living, rebuilding, that we are known, and attitude beatitudes.

This is a great little pocket book that is plain and simple and a great way to start the day. Good pointers for prayer times.

This is a book written by men for men. It is advertized as "a man's devotional" and that is what it delivers. It is divided into sixty days of devotional reading with each day taking no longer than five minutes to read. Each contains a Bible passage, a short devotional and a prayer. Although it is a "five minute read" the lessons learnt each day last more than five minutes. Read this after breakfast - or even before - and set yourself up for the day. I started this on the 1st September so am not yet half way through but in spite of that I would recommend this to any man,(of whatever age),who wants to grow in the Christian faith. Looking forward to Volume 2. Buy it; read it; enjoy it and grow.

How long have we been waiting for something like this? Bible reading notes for men. The style and format is ideally suited for the busy lifestyles that most men lead. The content is tailor made... pithy... and oh so relevant... gets to the heart of the male heart. If you ain't got a copy yet... get one. Can't wait to move on to book 2.

I bought this and book 2 at CVMs the gathering, and thought it was brilliant. Ideal short readings, and not dated to stop you feeling guilty if you miss one. Congratulations to Carl Beech on a fantastic Christian men's resource. Looking forward to the sequels.

As can be seen this is the third of "The Manual" series of Men's Devotinals from Carl Beech and friends. Each one gives a Bible passage, a short comment on it, and a prayer at the end. What more could a man need in the business of life? Each day's reading takes no more than five minutes to read but the comments stay with the reader all day. This is a good way to start the day and the comments are straight to the point - and very often hard hitting without being offensive . A very though-provoking series which I have no hesitating in recommendind. But it; read it and grow.

As with the other volumes in this series this is an excellant man's book. Each volume is split into 60 days of readings - covering undated two months at a time - and consists of a short Bible reading an application of it to life and a prayer to bring it home. One important factor in the books is the honesty of the writers themselves. Highly recommended. If you have not come across this yet then get the series. There are six in all to date which covers a whole year and gives you a six day holiday over the Christmas period. all undated so can be started at any time.

A simple but powerful and thought-provoking book for the average bloke and his mates.Easy to read, but hard hitting. All my mates love it.

The manner in which the manual, rather than book,is written is very user friendly. Particularly if you're looking for a quick and easy way to begin your journey into Faith and are unsure how to start or begin. It is very "bloke" based but then that's the idea. The short passages concentrate on a small verse from the Bible and then relate the passage to our lives today ending with a short prayer. I didn't find it chauvinistic just helpful. Recommended
